After a long search by devoted students of the Kagyu lamas, in April 2005 the Rokpa Trust purchased 2370 acres of virgin mountain land. This includes two valleys and the highest peak in the area. It is within two hours drive of Cape Town, near Villiersdorp.
The location was chosen according to specific instructions concerning geomancy given by HH 17th Karmapa and the 12th Khentin Tai Situpa, followed by a detailed inspection of the area by the venerable Chuje Akong Rinpoche.
On the adjacent farm, 28 private and semi-private beds are available in 2 farmhouses. Camping space under shady trees is available, with access to ablutions.
Accommodation and facilities are also offered to Hiking, Art, Botany, Yoga, etc. groups.
The facilities are also available between retreats, for those who would like a quiet period away, either alone or with a group.
